The Center for Technological Innovation (NIT) at UFV is called the Permanent Commission on Intellectual Property (CPPI) and is assigned to manage the Intellectual Property generated at UFV, gathering for this purpose advisors who are dedicated to activities related to deposits, records, contract, grant, transfer and maintenance of rights relating to Intellectual Property.

The Technological Center of Regional Development of Viçosa (CenTev) houses an office of the CPPI, a differential for their companies that have easy access to services related to intellectual property protection. The CPPI, which is linked to the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies (PPG), has its headquarters in the building of the Institute of Public Policy and Sustainable Development (IPPDS) on the UFV campus.

The CPPI provides advice and guidance on the procedures for the protection of Intellectual Property in all its aspects. More precisely, it operates in the guidance for preparation, routing and monitoring filings of Patents, Trademarks and records of software from the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), as well as the protection of copyright with the National Library and the protection and / or registration of cultivars with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).

In the relationships between UFV and businesses, the CPPI acts to support the entire process on the negotiation and conclusion of contracts such as Technology Transfer, Sharing and Covenant Laboratory Research and Technology Development. The CPPI has the role to protect the confidentiality of the information and obedience of internal procedures of their respective processes.

The CPPI also offers lectures and courses for the dissemination of the culture of the Protection of Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Innovation, both in academia and in the business environment.

The entire academic community and the companies linked to CenTev can take advantage of services provided by CPPI. These services are also extended to the whole community of Viçosa and region, for free.
